Happy Birthday Natasha!
Natasha is our youngest ambassador and is an inspiration to all she meets. She had a tough time last year when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after major operations on her hips, legs and feet. Since being fitted with an insulin pump, Natasha is back to full strength. She recently celebrated her 10th birthday. Natasha and her family have also moved house and are planning renovations to ensure their new home is suitable for Natasha’s needs as she grows.
Two New Ambassadors
Samantha Armytage and Glenn Wheeler from the 7 Network have joined our prestigious group of National Ambassadors. Samantha is a talented journalist and newsreader. Glenn has hosted our special advertorials on the Morning Show
Trust Funds Vital Research Project
Trust, a great supporter of cerebral palsy research, have granted $27,000 to fund a Clinical Trial Coordinator. Dr Catherine Gibson from South Australia has been a recipient of a Trust Innovative Research Grant in 2006.
And the winer is .... Glenn Wheeler
Our Ambassador Glenn Wheeler took out line-honours at the Myer Mad Hatter Race Day held at Rosehill in September. Glenn won $3,000 for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Glenn is quoted as saying that it was the biggest win he’d had at Rosehill, and he didn’t even place a bet!
World’s largest Cerebral Palsy Conference - February 2009
The Cerebral Palsy Foundation was a sponsor for the 3rd International Cerebral Palsy Conference held at Darling Harbour. Hosted by the Cerebral Palsy Institute, the conference attracted approximately 1,400 delegates from 32 countries to exchange knowledge on the latest research into the prevention and treatment of cerebral palsy.
Inaugural Cerebral Palsy Foundation Dinner - 17 February 2009
The inaugural Cerebral Palsy Foundation dinner, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, celebrated recent achievements. These included Avant’s support of $2 million over a four year period and funding for the development of the Macquarie Group Foundation Chair of Cerebral Palsy. Additional announcements included the relocation of the Cerebral Palsy Institute at the University of Notre Dame.

The Economic Impact of Cerebral Palsy in Australia
In 2007, The Spastic Centre, as part of Cerebral Palsy Australia, commissioned Access Economics to investigate the economic impact of cerebral palsy in Australia. The findings of this report are available upon request.

Justin Gallagher – More than $87,000 raised
Justin Gallagher is used to challenges. He is a Director at ABN AMRO, has four little girls and still found time to train and compete in the Comrade Marathon in South Africa. Justin ran 87 kilometres in under 9 hours (all up hill!) earning the Bill Rowan medal and the hearts of everyone at the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Justin raised funds through our MyChallenge website.
